You’re looking at weight loss the wrong way…..waaay wrong way. You don’t try to burn 1000 calories, you try to adjust your INTAKE of calories from food, so you take in less calories, and supplement this with aerobic workouts like the treadmill. By the way, thats way too much to cut from your caloric intake. Most people in your weight class use about 1500 to 2000 calories a day, depending on how active you are. Taking away 1000 calories from that would put your body in a starvation mode, and it will actual think it’s starving, and slow down your metablism to accomodate this sudden change, which will also tell you body to hold onto fats longer. You want to decrease your caloric intake by no more than about 300 to 500 calories.

I hate to break it to you, but it would take you about three hours a day of constant running to do that. A better option, however, would be to examine your diet. When you do, try to tally up your Caloric intake (the number of Calories you consume per day) and look at WHERE those calories are coming from. Try to reduce the amount of junk food, soda, and other empty calories you eat. This is because empty calories are just that, empty of nutritional value. Try to drink plenty of water if you’re trying to lose weight, I personally usually drink at least three liters of water a day, this may be a little excessive for you, but try to get at least two liters. It’s good to keep active, and the treadmill is a good way to do this, but try other options as well, since the treadmill will get very boring and tedious after a few days. Try a new sport or active hobby that will keep you both active AND entertained so that it won’t feel like you HAVE to be there doing it. If you can do this, after a short time, you will feel much healthier, and after a little while, you will definitely begin to see results. The most important part is thinking of this as a permanent change to your lifestyle, not just a diet, because if you think of it like a diet, I guarantee that you will immediately put weight back on. Hope this helps!

I do 1k calories on my treadmill in approximately two hours. I alternate between running at 6.0 and walking at 4.0 – about an hour of each.
